Day 6 - Tour of CCU and practice at the beach
We would like to say thanks to Coastal Carolina University staff and their basketball coaches (and players) for taking a time, showing us around campus and hanging out with us.
To make the day count (from the basketball point of view), we headed down to the beach where we did some agility work in the sand, ran in the Atlantic ocean and let our coaches rest in the sun for a little bit.
We finished the day by having some fun at local Dave and Buster's.
Yup, not a bad day off at all.
Day 7 - Driving to Charlotte and playing against M.A.C.K. Prep
Early in the morning (you can see we're the only ones in the hotel cafeteria) we started our drive back to Charlotte. To make the drive easier, we stopped for some TO-GO donuts, and yes...they were delicious.
After arriving to Charlotte, we've met for a quick team meeting before our next game vs. M.A.C.K. Prep. This game was especially fun, because there are three Slovenian players currently playing for this prep school. Even though we played well we had to shake our opponent's hands after a loss.
You win some, and you lose some. The important thing is to keep your head up so you don't miss out on incredible things happening around you!
Day 8 - Downtown Charlotte, shopping, and game vs. Moravian Prep
Long day ahead of us...we started by walking through downtown Charlotte and taking a close look at "Bank of America" stadium, home of the Panthers, NFL team.
Big city of Charlotte was a perfect for another stop at some outlet stores. You wouldn't be wrong assuming we had some fun and bought a whole lot of new stuff.
We were told to try out Bojangles' and we have to say, the food was great!
If you're asking yourself "are these guys even playing basketball", the answer is: Yes! We had to loosen up before playing against 2018 high school national champions Moravian Prep. They were very tough opponent, but we played really well, giving our best. They won this time, but who knows...maybe we beat them next time.
Day 9 - one word: WOW!
We were in for a special treat! Guys had no idea what was coming for them on our last full day in the States. Well, let's put it this way. We had an early surprise of SPECIAL TOUR OF CHARLOTTE HORNET'S ARENA. WOW.
Afterwords, we took a short drive to a Winthrop University where we were greeted by Ani Subotic, Slovenian who works at the University's Admission's Office. Ani, we would like to thank you for your time and hospitality, showing us around campus and athletics facilities.
OK, are you ready for this?! Our final adventure was the game between Charlotte Hornets and Houston Rockets. Yes, NBA game, with real NBA stars right there. Make sure to watch the video to see what we were a part of before the game.
This was an unforgettable trip!
